Happy Halloween

I can't be a composer of horror and sci-fi music and not acknowledge the most important date in the horror genre calendar - Halloween. For me it's a free pass to do these things:

  1. watch a horror movie - I like to mix it up and watch one classic and one modern movie,

  2. make anyone else in the house watch said horror movies and banish them if they complain,

  3. listen to my playlist of horror and supernatural themed songs, such as 'Date with a Vampire Girl', or anything from the Crow soundtrack, or anything by Concrete Blonde,

  4. eat chocolate of course,

  5. put up decorations,

  6. play dress ups in my skull and roses dress.

But all of that will happen tomorrow night (Australia time), and another day later in the northern hemisphere. Today is just a day of preparation, and I'll guessing I'll be too busy being "in the moment" to take photos or post on social media.

To be honest, I can't help but feel nostalgic at Halloween, and I revert back to the 80s when there was no internet, no mobile phones, no Facebook or Instagram. Just classic horror movies to watch without the need for self-promotion.

Halloween 2024 will largely go undocumented for me, as have previous Halloween nights. But that's just how I like it. It's a bit of a secret indulgence for me, and it can't be a secret indulgence if the whole world knows about it now, can it?

I made one exception to the self-promotion rule. I created this music video compilation of my Saturday Nights at the Slashers album for those who want to add this to their Halloween playlist. 20 minutes of original scary music. I hope you enjoy, and have a spookily Happy Halloween.
